There was a big gap between 2009 and Aug'2011...there was Ramadhan 2010 followed by Eid ul Fitr'2010 and flying around Malaysia for official duties, giving briefing on skills training, manning the office exhibition booths at education fairs etc...
Then it was back to Germany for the 2nd.time around in Feb'2011 till May'2011 (with a few short trips to cities like Budapest, Rome Litalia & Berlin during the 3 months there ) :-))
Couldn't deny the fact that this was due to the 'addiction' to FB :-P

Soalan "Nak makan apa balik Malaysia nanti?" sebenarnya dah berlegar2 dlm fikiran AbgLans even masa AbgLans di Jerman lagi. (Jgn cakap Abg ajer yg asyik2 pikir pasal makan,kalau uol ditempat AbgLans uols pun sama jugak :-P )

AbgLans tunggu KakAz tanya ajer & sehari-dua masa nak fly balik ke Malaysia (masing2 excited nak balik negara terchinta itu) KakAz tanya soalan keramat itu "You nak makan aper balik Malaysia nanti?"

AbgLans jawab "I nak makan fish & chips!"

"Ada pulak fish & chips" kata Kak Az.

"Ye-lah,nak makan nasi lemak,mee kari, laksa & cokodok semua Kak Wan (course-mate PhD yang sama2 ke Bremen Jerman) dah buat dah hari tu. Nak makan serunding you dah bawak,hehehehe.Nak makan fish & chips sini I tak confident,loyer tekak! iiiieee!" kata AbgLans.

Itu cerita sebulan lepas.

Hari tu Babah dgn Akak & Adek p(erg)i Low Yatt KL. Babah park ke(re)ta kat Sungai Besi, kami naik LRT. Selalunya kalau orang2 pe(r)gi Low Yatt,diorg carik barang2 komputer (printer, scanner, mother-board ape-ape je-lah), handphone atau camera.

Laptop Akak & Babah yg Babah bawak ke Jerman beli kat Low Yatt. Ketiga2 kamera Babah (Samsung,Canon & Nikon) beli kat Low Yatt (kaya-lah Cina Low Yatt). Tapi kali ni Babah nak beli 'empon' (handphone). Ini first time Babah carik & nak beli 'empon' kat Low Yatt.

Babah punyer 'empon' yg Sony E dah 'blur-blur' masa kat Jerman lagi,kata Babah.Babah pun ada terlepas cakap (terlepas cakap ker?) "rasa nak empas ajer fon tu" & rakan2 seperjuangan Babah ada beri nasihat & saranan yang memberangsangkan "tu dah tanda2 nak suroh beli handphone baru tu Che Lan!" Sekarang dah beli empon baru mungkin Babah akur dgn nasihat & saranan mereka2 itu :-)

Friday prayer at Surau Al-Furqan, Precinct 11 Putrajaya*Terkenang solat Juma'at di masjid Al-Fadila Bremen Jerman.

Cuaca hari tu memang panas.The weather was rather hot *elehhhh,jgn lah speku Abg baru balik dari Jerman dah komplen panas, stuffy memacam, ekekekekek! tapi, memang Jumaat hari tu Putrajaya panas semacam,kesan global warming kot!* :-)

Time nak solat Juma'at ni ter'flashback' teringat last week minggu lepas masih di Bremen Jerman, solat Jumaat di Masjid Al-Fadila Bremen Jerman.

*Ni kisah flashback*

Kebanyakan masjid Jerman asalnya adalah premis pejabat yg diubah-suai menjadi masjid & jemaah solat Jumaatnya 'orang2 itu juga'-maknanya kalau anda selalu kesitu, anda tahu jemaah yg sembahyang tu 'orang luar' atau 'the regular ones' :-) Khutbah dalam bahasa Arab walaupun ramai orang Turkiye, org2 Turkiye memang faham bahasa Arab. Brother Lans hanya faham semasa khutbah pertama & kedua ayat2 atau ungkapan2 lazim; contoh "Innallah hawamala ikatahu yusollu....(sambung sendiri-lah:-) ) Nampak gaya kena belajar Arab lepas nih atau tanya Ustaz Zaini JAKIM atau Ustaz Zamri IKIM,hehehe, apa2 istilah & frasa Arab yg lazim!

*Ni flashback lagi*

Lepas solat kat Masjid Al=Fadila, Abg suka makan 'rollo' (cebisan daging kambing yg disalai dgn potongan tomato,bawang yg dipotong/cincang diletak mayonis & lada, dibalut dgn roti Arab) & minum air teh Arab yg pekat gelas kecil. Harganya 3.50Euro. Ok-lah bantu2 perniagaan org Islam...Kemudian dapat berinteraksi berkenal-mesra dgn Imam2 masjid, saudara2 seIslam ku dari pelbagai bangsa seperti Saudara Yusof sekeluarga, Aziz, Imad org2 Lubnan, Rejab , Namli & Sonny Jerman Muslim, 'Bapak' Puji engineer dari Indonesia, Ahmad & Hj.Muhamad dari Afrika & ramai lagi...tapi Abg cakap Inggeris, diorang cakap Arab, Abg tak faham apa diorg cakap, diorg tak faham apa Abg cakap. Yg muda2 pulak 'terror' bahasa Inggeris :-)

*Berbalik kpd kisah solat Jumaat kat Putrajaya ni...

Surau di Putrajaya dah advance; khutbah Juma'at guna powerpoint. Ini satu kaedah pembelajaran yg hebat sebab antara kita ada yg 'auditory learners' dan ada juga yg 'visual learners';makna nya ada 'lebih masuk' apabila menggunakan pendengaran *dengar saja boleh masuk apa yg diajar* dan yg 'visual learners' pula perlu tengok carta, rajah utk lebih memahami & ingat sesuatu. Dgn ada khutbah powerpoint, rasa ngantuk boleh 'diketepikan' dgn membaca teks khutbah powerpoint pd skrin yg kat depan tu...Kat masjid Jerman tak de khutbah powerpoint2 nih...

Budak dah nak pegi sekolah agama kat surau.

Balik solat Jumaat kat Malaysia nih faham-lah 'keseluruhan' isi kandungan khutbah Jumaatnya...lepas solat jumpa rakan2 surau ada yg tanya (mana yg tahu kita pergi Jerman ) "Bila balik Jerman?" "hehehehe...pagi tadi pukul 5...."

Day87-MittwochWednesday8April'09-To the Universum, Technologie Park Bremen & Brother F***** came by to bid us 'Auf Wiedersehen'

It was already spring.....

*These 2 pictures were taken 'yesterday', when I was on the steps leading to the Bibliothek/library, about to return the library books.* Universitat's students were lazing in the sun, reading,chit-chatting or just enjoying the sun :-)

A day before leaving for home (Malaysia) I told Frau "I'd like to see the Universum Science Centre or else the stay in Bremen would be 'incomplete'. So, that evening, we walked from

the apartment (at Lise Meitner) to the Universum along the road which on many occations are being patronized by bikers and joggers alike.
The apartment as seen from the 'bikers & joggers' road. It was a mere 10-15 mins walk to the Universum with nice view along the way...

To the UNIVERSUM Science Centre (aluminium coloured, capsule-shaped like building)...located in the Universitat Technologie Park area.

If you are taking tram no.6 from the hauptbahnhof to the Universitat, you have to get off at the Universum Science Centre tram station (3 tram stations before the last station at Klugenfarther). It is a mere 5 mins.walk to the Science Centre. However the bus (in pic.bus No.28) runs along this road,next to the Science Centre.

There is a hotel, Atlantic Hotel in the Science Centre compound and a campus cafe.

We did not enter the Science centre but we entered the ticket office where there are souvenirs, cafe and some science exhibits like this 'huge stool and table'.

The 'huge table & stool' at the ticket office foyer showed & 'explained' that "this is how small children see the adult world;big chair, big table and them being small creatures..." Very good idea!

Just outside the ticket office there's the educational play area, a 'hill' with educational activities, a boxed-shaped building with dark interior to depict the camera and the a timber structure where you can climb up the steps to see the view from a high level.

Day86-DienstagTuesday7April'09-Moving Around Bremen.

The last 2 days in Bremen... I decided to 'show' Frau the city what she 'had not seen yet'. The Statmusicians, the donkey, dog, cat and rooster. A MUST 'photograph-yourself -next- to- it' for visitors to Bremen. * Have photographed many times here but I still can get enough of it :-)

To Rossmann at the hauptbahnhof to print photo of me with Brother Y**** & son M******. I'd be giving them at the Al-Fadilah moschee sometime later before or after prayer time.

Performed the evening prayer at the Al-Fadilah Moschee. Met Brother Y**** and son B***** after the evening prayer. Gave him the photo. B*****'s brother, M***** was having fussball practice. Frau was more interested with toddlers *which reminded us of our kids when they were small :-)

This would be my last meeting with Brother Y**** until my return to Bremen in 20XX, InsyaAllah...:-)

After the evening prayers, Frau decided to go to the funfair where Prof.Brand had taken us before. It was nearly sunset and the lights made the place more lively. It was fun even just to watch people trying their skills on 'unusual' games :-) or having thrills on rides up in the air then with water splashing at them or the dodge car rides where you bang into each other & you just don't mind of the collision!Soccer legs or not, put 'Oliver Kahn' to shame by scoring goals in this pit. 3 holes for goals!

The 'Knight Rider' was on display too *just like Malaysian car the Proton Aeroback. :-)

Met Brother M***** (from Egypt) and family. Our last meeting together, maybe, and may both of us excell in our studies.Amin.

Day84-MontagMonday6April'09-Part 2. Moving around Bremen to Bilali Habeshi Camii Moschee near Huckelreide (on the way to Arsten).

After the farewell meeting with ITB staffs that afternoon, I told Frau that I realy want to visit the moschee/mosque somewhere in Arsten *someone told me there's a mosque in Arsten so I think I should go there before leaving Bremen on Thursday...*

Frau agreed. We took the tram to Arsten *tram no 4* and alightened at the final station.Hah!No moschee :-)
I asked a local, a German, of 'the' moschee.He & this lady *I think his wife* said there's one at the Huckelreide bus stop while a bigger one is at Kap Horn Strs *this Kap Horn moschee I know & been there*. So we get on the tram again & got off at the Huckelreide to find the moschee. We saw a building with the murals of a mosque. It was opposite the tram station/Huckelreide bus stop and only across the traffic lights. Actually the front building *which we thought was the moschee/mosque was the Islamic Centre, while the moschee was at the back of the Islamic Centre.There's a gate on the right-hand side of the Islamic Centre leading to the mosque.

Before and after the evening/maghrib prayer I had the chance to communicate with one of the jemaah Brother B****, who spoke little English but enough to 'understand what each other was trying to say' :-) Sometime this Brother spoke a few English words & mostly Arabic & Deutsch! Subhannallah,Good Lord, how I wish I could speak German or Arabic :-) Englisch was not the lingua franca at that time :-)

Took a photo with the Imam & the jemaah. How sincere these jemaah were! *There are those who refused to be photographed because of ...I don't know....(and that would make me 'sad' because I want to keep such photos as remembrance.)

The Islamic brotherhood seemed to be the bond between us although I don't understand German & Arabic and they don't understand me speaking Englisch:-) They thought I was from Indonesia, I said I'm from Malaysia. Most Germans or German citizen know where Malaysia is and most of them (Moslems or not) would say "Malaysia gut /good".

May the Almighty Allah Bless the congregation/jemaah all over Germany & all over the world.

That was our last Samstag in Germany, for the time being :-)

Brother R**** went earlier in the morning while I came with my Frau around 12noon. *Although many locals said traders will start packing up their goods at this hour (12noon), however I was confident with kind good weather, bright sunny sunshine, the traders might be still be there till 2pm...and indeed they were! :-)

Met Brother A****, fellow Malaysian student, a friend of F***** (the world is so small for us Malaysian in Bremen :-) These guys play badminton hence that calls for the racket he's holding...:-)

Lady sold traveller's iron for 1.50Euros. Lady sold leather jacket for 2.50Euro.

*Visiting Schnoor (the earliest settlement in Bremen, which is by the weser/river).

After the visit to the flohmarkt I decided to show my frau the Schnoor. In my humble opinion the Schnoor is a wonderful tourist attraction with cafes, shops, beautiful houses& artifacts.

Day82.FreitagFriday3rd.April'09.Part4:Coffee with Prof. Brand at Stecker & visit to DerBurger Park.

After his lecture that Friday afternoon, Prof.Brand decided to have coffee with us (together with our spouses) sometime in the late afternoon in the city centre. Since it was Friday, we suggested the rendezvous to be at 3pm & we are to meet at Roland Statue at that time.Mr.R**** & I were already in the city after the Friday prayers but the ladies were from the apartment.

I was the first (or was it Prof.?) to arrive the Roland Statue because the Al-Fadilah moschee where I prayed the Friday prayers was just a 7 mins.walk to the Roland Statue.

Day82.FreitagFriday3rd.April'09.Part3:To Al-Fadilah Moschee for Friday Prayers.

Prof.Brand's lecture ended at 12 something. Due to the ample time available to travel to the moschee/mosque (the athan was at 1334hours due to change of time/day light saving in European countries hence the time was hastened to an hour), I headed back to the apartment to go with Mr.R**** (Wan F's spouse) to the mosque.

Leaving the apartment for the Friday prayers.Waiting for tram to the hauptbahnhof/central station. *No,the tram coming was not the tram we were waiting for.That was the 'school tram'.

Mr.R**** wanted to perform the Friday prayers at the Islamic Centre near the elevated highway but I wanted to go to the Al-Fadilah moschee. So, at the hauptbahnhof /central station we split but I gave him the direction to the Islamic Centre. In the tram to Al-Fadilah, I saw Mr.R**** talking to fellow moslem brother on the road side who was also heading for the Islamic Centre probably to confirm the direction to the Islamic Centre. Today as I alightened from the tram at Klagenfuther tram station to walk to ITB, I met my friend Brother Mohamed N from Egypt. Although our institutes are located in the same campus ground, we seldom cross each other's path.

A smart & brilliant guy, Brother Mohamed's research institute is 'just behind ITB & 5 streets away' and how I wish we could have a little chat, have coffee or tea together, probably discuss about our research (too mediocre huh) or about the current worls situation :-)

Performed the evening/asar prayers. Met Indonesian friend Brother G**y & family.If you want to go there,take the tram either at Domsheide or AmBrill tram station (near Feugo or Highlights at Obernstrs) and get down at Kap-Horn Str tram station. Al-Fatih moschee is just opposite the tram station.

The day trip to Hannover. Since both of us (me and Wan F) have been to Hannover before, so we were sort of like tourist guides to our spouses:-)

It was Friday. To Al-Fadilah moschee/mosque to perform the Friday prayers.Since I had the intention to take Frau to the factory outlets in Brinkum therefore she followed me to Al-Fadilah moschee & performed the Fridays prayers too. At the moschee I introduced Frau to Brother Y****f and son M******d. Ahmet N**** was not seen on that day.

Frau would be in Bremen for only 2 weeks or so, therefore during this short period I intend to show her how 'my student life' in Bremen is. Today (26March'09) was her first day in Bremen so I took her to ITB; be in the same room which was provided by ITB to do our own research, introduced her to friends (Iman & Pekka was available while Lai was not around) in ITB and even showed her my research Advisor Dr.Bremer's room. After a day at ITB, before going to the city I took her to Universitat Bremen's Zentralbereich & the Bibliothek. In the city I took her to the usual places where I used to go during my free time; the Al-Fadilah moschee for my prayers and to Trendy or Highlights at Obernstr to buy cheap 1Euro items. Back from the city I took Frau to Pennymarkt and REWE (formally known as 'Extra') to buy groceries etc.

With Wan F, my office colleague, we'd usually go to ITB around 9am. Lectures was usually at 10am.Likewise, using the weekly ticket which I had bought for Frau prior to the Amsterdam trip, we (me & Frau) took the tram at the Lise-Meitner tram station, dropped at Klagenfurther & walked passed by the ZARM to ITB. We then proceeded to Room 2.04 which was provided by ITB for guest students like us to do our own research or discussion. Usually with Wan F, we would do our research in Room 2.04 or using the internet provided by ITB we'd do our internet research. During our first day in ITB we had been taken to the library by Mr.M*** to meet Rita the librarian to see any books that may be usefull for our research.We had already by now a handfull of good books to read during our stay here at ITB.

The last day was merely to buy a few souvenirs at the souvenir shops that were aplenty around Damrak. *One of the tourist brochures had described Amsterdam as 'Naughty Amsterdam', YES it is! :-)

Amsterdam,kota yg nakal! Ganja dibenarkan *boleh kena 'stone' bila2 masa* dan pelacuran dihalalkan oleh pihak berkuasa tempatan! Barang2 cenderahati di 'Red Light District' & kebanyakan kedai2 cenderahati yg lain berbentuk alat sulit/kelamin lelaki dan wanita! Hahahaha, pulak tu besar2 pulak saiznya! Kalau bawak anak2 malunyer...hehehehe

However, I had a very ugly situation where at one of the souvenir shop somewhere near the Dam Square, the two salesperson ( a yound lady and a young man) were very rude to me. The way they responded to my queries about the sizes of t.shirts was very rude indeed! From the way they speak English, I knew they were not Dutch but foreigners! It was a bad experience, indeed. Because of her bad attitude, I decided not to buy any merchandise from that shop. From my other experiences, the locals (here Dutch) were more polite. It's a fact! I sincerely hope someone will say straight in their faces to have some manners when talking to tourist and elders!

Anyway, nice people at the other souvenirs shops were polite and they made our day more cheerful :-)

Ada satu kedai nama belakang Dam Square /Dataran Dam, kasar bukan main 2 org pekedai dia, sorang pompuan & satu budak muda.Bukan org Belanda tapi pendatang. Abg tanya pasal saiz baju t 2,3 kali yg pompuan tu melenting & menjawab dgn kasar. Korang Abg cakap,kalau pekedai jual mahal atau berkasar dgn kita,tak usah beli barangan dia, banyak lagi kedai lain...ajar dia sikit mcm kita heran kedai dia!*geram,hehehehe*

The condom shop was still close at 10 something in the morning.Last night it was so nicely lit up & decorated with beautiful lights & all.

During the day this 'Red Light District' street or backlane are just like any normal street/backlane but come night time, it has a different environment...more lively :-p

1. We started the day with the canal cruise *the starting point for most canal cruise is just at out door steps*. 8Euros for 1 hours along the canals under many bridges, with narration in 4 languages; Dutch,Duetsch,French & Englisch.

Before you step into the cruise, a photographer will snap a photo of each of the passenger (shoulder above) & later when they are back from the cruise, a postcard sized photo of him/her is ready for rememberance at 3Euros each. *If you don't like your photo you don't have to buy it :-)

At Schipol Airport. *Just arrived by train from Bremen via Osnabruck*

To kill the time (while waiting for my Frau to arrive from KUL at 0600hrs) I moved around the airport and window shopped (at 0000hrs?). After I had 'covered' the entire airport (it was tiring after a long journey & to push the haversack on the airport trolley everywhere I went) I decided to have sit at the internet area near the cafe to do some photo editting in the laptop with a cup of coffee purchased from the nearby cafe.

Wifi is NOT free! For 3Euros you'll get conncted for 15 mins! That's expensive said a South American guy whom I met at the internet area.*I have that written in my previous posting :-)*

Day70-Sonntag/Sunday.23Marz09_From Bremen to Schipol Amsterdam Airport.

Mrs.Brother Lans flew in from KLIA (2356hrs ETD Sunday night) to Amsterdam (ETA 0500am, Monday morning) 23March2009. I took the trains; RE from Bremen to Osnabruck and then IC from Osnabruck to Schipol Airport Amsterdam. At Osnabruck hauptbahnhof/'train station, I made friend with P*****k, a University student from Munster who cycled from Munster & was waiting for train back to Munster."The wind is strong for me to cycle back to Munster".P*****k was waiting for the train and will drop at Munster.

The train from Osnabruck to Schipol was delayed by 5 min. but arrived Schipol on time at 23.09hrs (that's 11.09pm).

In the IC train to Schipol, I made friend with P**l, another University student at Deventer, Holland.

At Schipol Airport, I had to stay awake for the next 5 hours until her arrival at 0500hrs, the next morning...I stayed awake by editing pictures for my blog & Facebook at the an internet area, next to Hema, a cafe. Internet was not free! It's 3Euros for 15mins.! You purchase the password at the cafe. A guy from South America said "3Euros 15mins?That's very expensive". Agreed, I did not 'buy' the internet, I just sat there (there are electrical plug points), on my laptop and edit pictures for my blog or facebook. I think for 15mins. what can you do?Browsing & downloading pages sometimes may take up 3-5 mins if the server is poor!

Only after I had performed my morning prayer I decided to catch a short nap for 15mins. before Mrs.BrotherLans arrival at 0630hrs.(a one hour delay).

*The lady cleaner came to do the 'once-a-forthnight' cleaning; cleaning & wiping the toilet, vacuuming the bedroom carpet, changing pillow cases & bedsheets. I was having my breakfast when she came knocking on the door. As soon as I saw her face I knew it was the 'cleaning day'.

Miss IKA was going the moschee too, to perform the Friday prayers. We met in the tram at the Berufsbildungwerk's tram station.

After the prayers I met Brother P*** (an Indonesia engineer working in Germany/Deutschland). He had tea while I ate the 'rollo' and tea at the moschee's kiosk.

To ITB to do some private reading & research.During lunch time around 12 something I walked up (a 10 minutes walk) to the MENSA to look for Universitat Bremen souvernir.MENSA is near the Universitat Zentalbereich & bibliothek/library. Been to MENSA several times to see if there was someone at the Uni. souvenir counter but there was always no one. (Actually the students had put a glass locker displaying Uni. items on sale, a chair & a desk to do the buying & selling. So, on that day I was just trying my luck! Ja! it was 'open'! Miss M****** was manning the 'counter'.

We asked the some traders at the weser flohmarkt on the day before (Saturday 14March) where will tomorrow's (Sunday) flohmarkt be? At the Masse Centrum behind the hauptbahnhof or at Hansa Carre? Herrn Warner gave me the schedule & said at the Masse Centrum behind the hauptbahnhof.

On the day itself (Sunday) it was raining heavily and the weather was totally 360 degrees different from yesterday (Saturday). Met R**** & Wan F who were from the flohmarkt at the haupbahnhof .They told me due to heavy rain, only 3-4 traders had laid down their items or put up tents. Anyway, since I was already there,so I made it a point to see...:-)

With R**** for the Friday prayers at the Al-Fadilah moschee/mosque near Am Wall tram station.

After the prayers, we made friend with Brother Puji***** from Indonesia. *I have been to this moschee several times,but have not seen him there until this day probably because he went to other mosques. Why I knew,because you can differentiate the Asian face like mine from the others :-)

Brother Puji had invited us to visit his house somewhere near Arsten (he even sketched out the plan & which tram to take to his house). Then he mentioned about the factory outlets before IKEA where items are sold cheaper than the mormal price. I told him I've been to IKEA with IKA & WanF (it's in my blog too) but never to the factory outlets where there are Adidas, Luma,Nike,Esprit etc. He suggested us to go anytime. So, I told R**** that since "we still time' why not go to the factory outlet on that day,that is if he (R****) wanted to go...:-) And we went! :-)

As usual Thursday IS my another 'Bibliothek Day' besides Tuesday. Wan decided to do her reading & research at ITB.

At the Bibliothek/library.

Later in the evening R**** & Wan decided to pay F***** a visit at his home to hand-over the 3 cartridges of shuttlecocks F***** had requested R**** to bring to Bremen.(F***** is the Malaysian student who called upon us on our first day in Bremen, to show us the mosque for Friday prayers).

I stayed back at the Uni.Bremen's Bibliothek till 1800hrs and went straight to F*****'s home from the Bibliothek. I came earlier than Wan & R**** to F****'s house. Housemate K***** was there but another housemate Y**** was still out.

When Wan and R**** came, they brought along nasi impit and kuah kacang. I brought 2 bottles of apfelshaft (bought at Pennymarkt at Pappelstr).F***** the 'landlord' served keropok.

The nasi impit & kuah kacang prepared and cooked by Wan.Ready to be eaten.But where is F*****, the 'landlord a.k.a houseowner'?

F***** deep-frying the keropok using cubed vegetable oil. *Rajin anak bujang ni masak! Sapa nak buat menantu atau adik ipar boleh hantar Borang 3 salinan! Dah lah pandai belajor, rajin pulak memasak,eheheh :-)

Keropok was fried and served. F***** was seated at the end of the table.

Yang tukang bawak tu Kak Wan & Abg R**** makan duluuu,nampak :-)

As usual, to ITB to do our own research (the choices was either, one; to do research in the room 2.14 which was provided to us, second; to the bibliothek or third; stay in our room at the apartment and study). *'Our' room is a not-so-good option because the space IS small & the bed is a few inches away and you might be tempted to read on the bed & then zzzzzzzzz!*

This time around Wan's spouse Herrn./Mr.R**** (who had just flew in from KL the day before) followed her to ITB. I came a little bit later since I wanted to go to the MENSA to look for some Uni souvenirs.

FromDomsheide/city centre by foot to Obernstrs and ate kebap at Feugo kebap outlet next to AmBrill bahn station,manned by Brother Ahmet. We then headed for the Al-Fadilah moschee to perform the evening prayers.

Besarnya kebap abg,boleh share 2 orang! Kalau makan mulut dah tak boleh nganga,besor bukan main kebapnya:-)

From Clevetorstr we decided to make a circle back to the hauptbahnhof through one of the roads. Beyond our knowledge, 'this' road we were about to pass thru is the Flohmarkt area, mere coincidental. We did not know Hannover has flohmarkt on Saturdays. We saw tents along the streets & river from Clevertorstr, so we decided to get a closer look. Then,...ah! Flohmarkt! *Hahaha, you know how I love going to flohmarkts/fleamarkets! :-)

At Holzmarkt:Old townhall with fountain.

Notice the 'red line' on the pavement? The 'red line' is the 'City Ring'. Sort of a demarkation made by the authorities to 'confine' the tourist zone from the city area. It acts like a guide to tuorist.

Left the apartment at 1220hrs. The overall journey from the apartment by foot to the tram station at Lise-Meitner, tram journey from Lise-Meitner to the city centre (hauptbahnhof/central station), and then by another tram to Am Wall tram station plus the walk to the Al-Fadilah Moschee/mosque will take up about 20 mins. or so, provided you manage to catch all 2 trams 'there and then'. :-)

Leaving the apartment at 1220hrs.

Masuk waktu zohor 12.40tgh. Khutbah lagi... Sempat...

Waiting for tram to the city. That one coming was heading for the Universitat.

Before I met Brother M****** on my first Friday here, Ahmet was the one who helped me to order tea & cute small pizzas at the food kiosk within the moschee because the man who manned the kiosk doesn't speak much Englisch..and Ich spreche Deutsch nicht :-) Should thank him for that! :-)

Day52_Mittwoch/Wednesday4Marz09_To ITB & Buying Grilled Chicken.

Today it was just to ITB to do research by the internet and reading books given by our Advisors.

Later that evening as we (Wan F and I) alighten the Watjenstr tram station near Pennymarkt and Extra, both of us saw a bearded man manning the mobiled-chicken-kiosk, just next to Pennymarkt. We have seen the mobile kiosk several times but was uncertain of its 'halal' status so we never bothered to drop by to see...:-)

So, before entering Pennymarkt we drop by at the mobile kiosk to enquire a few things about the chicken where we met Brother M******, a PhD student from Egypt who later spoke on behalf of the chicken seller, a Lebanese who speaks Deutsch and no Englisch, about the 'halal' condition of everything sold on the mobile kiosk.

"Chicken is Halal, InsyaAllah". The Lebanese brother comes 3 times a week on Montag, Mittwoch & Samstag.At some other days the mobile kiosk will be manned by his brother. Adek dia rupa Mat Salleh tu yang ragu2 nak singgah puuun....

Each whole chicken costs 5.60Euro, half will be 2.80Euro.We bought 1/2 chicken each.It seemed too much,though...

It was delicious & you can either eat with bread & salad & whatever ala kebab or make nasi ayam/chicken rice but prepare the soup to compliment the chicken rice. Even 1/2 chicken was enough for 2 meals :-)

*Before the trip to Hamburg, both of us (me and colleague Wan F) had enquired Prof.Brand (who lectures at Hamburg Universitat) about interesting places in Hamburg. Prof. advised us to visit the St.Pauli-Landungsbrucken harbour (which we did), the lake and the River Elbe and some interesting streets like Monckeburystr and Burchandstr. Due to time constraint, we did not go to museums or parks recommended by him...:-(

We has a seminar titled "Employment Oriented Currinculum Development for Special Target Group" by Prof.Brand in Room 1.13,1000-1200hrs. at ITB.

Since it was Friday , therefore right after the seminar I had to rush to the Klugenfarter tram station near ITB to head for the city to perform the Friday prayers. I was having the intention to pray at Al-Fadilah Moschee until I met Brother Mohamad N*** at the tram station.

Brother Mohamad who is from Egypt is also doing his PhD research and he asked whether I would like to go to the Islamic Cultural Centre near the hauptbahnhof/central station since "you've never been there before". I said "yes" because I always had the intention to go there, even printed out the address from the internet, but ever since I got to know Al-Fadilah Moschee, the intention to go there did not materialised.

After the Friday prayers at the Islamic Cultural Centre, I went to the Al-Fadilah Moschee to perform the asar/evening prayers. Took a bit of Turkiye kebab at the food kiosk.

The bibliothek internet is yours for 2 hours. Key-in your bibliothek/library card number and your password. I was there also to fetch the book ordered through the library website *very2 convienient* besides looking for more books...*larat ke Abg baca banyak2 buku nih?*

Searched for the'ordered book' by Havighurst on the shelves provided at the right hand corner of the 1st.floor.Then find any available computer. That's S******, sitting at the next computer.Then S****** went off. Came another man.

...but I was still there! *usage time was not over yet*:-) Near 1400hrs. I went to the MENSA to see whether the student's body *ala-ala Koperasi* kiosk (selling Uni items like caps, stickers, pins etc) was open or not. Nah, it was closed everytime I went during the lunch time :-) I learnt that this time is the exam week so most probably the students could not spare some time there.Nevermind, I'll go again some other days.

To the Bibliothek to get the book I had ordered through the library website.

Met Brother F*****, the Malaysian student who had invited us to his house for dinner (pls read in my previous posting).

On my way to the Universitat Zentral Bereich from the Bibliothek (and as usual I will be clicking pictures), a guy said from behind "why are you taking picture?". I showed a puzzled expression on my face. He then said "maybe u don't recognised me because I was wearing cap all the time".

"Ahhhh, A**" I said with a smile.
"No,I**" said he, correcting his name.
"I have a blog"

Brother I** is from Armeniar and yes, I have met him several times at the library. We have brief conversations then. He's always seen at the Bibliothek, studying!

You have to come to the Bibliothek, find it on these shelves according to either your name or surname & then go to the borrowing library counter to borrow it accordingly or use the self-service machine :-)

My first time around to the Universitat's swimming pool.

Entrance fee for Uni students is 3.30Euro. You'll get a locker of your choice to keep your belongings. According to the person in-charged at the counter you can swim from opening time until closing...

Abang masuk swimming pool lengkap dengan swimming cap, baju renang , goggle dan tights sampai ke betis. Rupa2 nya swimming pool disini membenarkan perenang berenang 'free hair' (tak payah pakai swimming cap)! UPM & UiTM tidak membenarkan anda berenang tanpa swimming cap. Sewa 50sen! Beach shorts & boxers ala-ala Zach Efron, mintak maaf, pun kedua2 Uni ni tak bagi anda masuk berenang! Di sini, biasalah kan, Mat Salleh, swimming trunk yg dipakai nya. Jadi bila Abg masuk pakai baju swimming dgn cap & goggle, patut lah diorang pandang2 *macam star kot? Time tu perasan Michael Phelps, konon :-p* pasal rata2 yang berenang free hair & tak pakai baju (bagi lelaki-lah!).

Olympics size tuuu! Abg perlu tingkatkan water confidence bila berenang melalui kawasan diving/terjunan, rasa 'dalam sangat' kawasan terjunan tu. Lepas 2, 3 laps, okay-lah macam biasa Abg can do non-stop for 1 hours, but breast strokes. Free style is straineous so I only did that a few times and at the final lap!

The changing area's surrounding was clean & well kept. Di kaunter bayaran setelah anda membayar entrance fee akan diberi seakan2 duit syiling yg berlubang utk anda masukkan kedalam kotak kunci, ambil kunci & pergi ke locker tersebut.

Bilik mandi jantanz betina asing2 tapi bilik mandi terbuka tanpa sekatan & ada dua yg berdinding tanpa shower curtain. Mandilah anda; aku tengok kau,kau tengok aku! Tapi relax-lah, sama jer...hanya yg membezakan ramai 'masuk tabik keluar salam' *statement!hahaha*

*Kamera didalam bilik persalinan & bilik shower tidak dibenarkan, so there are no locker room pictures to show! Nanti kena saman! hahahaha :-P

Nota kaki: Walaupun ramai (biasa lah Matsalleh yg mandi tanpa se-*rat b*nang,tapi Abg maintain sebagai lelaki Melayu timur. ..:-pLagi pun Abg bawak shower gel yg brand "Aurate", seakan mengingatkan wajib tutup aurat gitu,hahahahaha

There was me, Frau Wan F, Mr.,Mrs. & little Miss L**, Miss I.K.A and her colleque Mr.H*****. Took the RE bound for Bremerhaven. Bremerhaven, a seaport city located in northern Germany and near the River Weser was 1 1/2 hrs.train journey from Bremen.

Wan had to see the people at the Universitat's WLan office regarding her laptop internet downloading problem. The WLan office is open to students am Dienstags (1000-1200hrs) und am Donnestags (1200-1400hrs) so that Tuesday morning we went direct from the apartment to the WLan office, before going to the Bibliothek/library.

Herr F****** , the WLan person did his very best and told Wan to later try it back at the apartment, however Wan said she'd would try it later in the evening. After the WLan visit both of us went to the Bibliothek/library to do some research & reading.

Even before Samstag/Saturday (14.2.09) both of us (me & WanF) had decided to visit Bremen flughafen/airport, just for a visit & 'see things' around. Ja...ever since we touched down at the flughafen on 12.1.09 we did not get the chance to move around the airport.

That Samstag we headed for the airport but since (as usual) there's the Saturday flohmarkt / flea market under the bridge (if you readers have been reading my blog,you know which flohmarkt I'm talking about ) so we decided to go there first then to the flughafen.

Back from the flohmarkt to Domsheide to take the tram to the flughafen,there was the Bremen Carnival starting at Roland statue along the Domsheide area(we did not know about that,though and no wonder the tram did not go through the route via the Domsheide on that day because it was closed to traffic) . We the Domshedie area, made our stop there,watched the beautiful procession going by, snapped interesting pictures then took the tram to the flughafen/airport. :-)

There was a number of German youngsters gathering around him, trying to figure out the answers to his quizzes. I passed by, stopped, answered his 1st. quiz, CORRECTLY!. The question goes like this "What is 'mate' to the Australian slang?" Answers to choose from was "wife,friend,husband and I can't remember. I said 'friend'. Right! He then gave me another question something like "Nugmeg is related to which island? There was 5 answers to choose. I chose 'Moluccus'. Right again!Hahaha.And Captain Peter asked me do I know where 'Moluccus' is. I said the islands of Indonesia. Right and then I was asked to ring the ship's bell "Ding! ding!ding! ding! And the audience clapped their hands. Capt.Peter then asked me to wear the red pirate cap as a symbol I have 'conquered' some achievement & gave me a box of tea.

Before I leave I told him that in Malaysia where I come from, English is the 2nd.widely spoken language! :-P

*anyway, I just can't resist having those colourful nicely designed bags :-)
Will I be taking them all back to Malaysia? umphhhh....

On board tram no.3 at Domsheide, stopped at Weserstadion tram station, walked to the stadium for about 20 mins. or so.
As I walked towards the stadium from the tram station (you can see the tall spot lights structure from afar), I was like saying to myself excitedly; "At last , to the Werder Bremen stadium! Sampai jugak aku!

Werder Bremen Museum at 1st.level & above and Fan Shop.

It was too chilly that the first & right thing to do was to find die toiletten & one boy among the bunch of kids who were at one of the entrance (spoke very little Englisch ) lead me to die toiletten. *Very clean toilet indeed!*

Later I snapped photos of Werder's 2 promotional matches posters, the building front facade & sides & surroundings and also some interesting signages of Werder.

I then entered the Fan Shop, check out on any promotional items on sale *bought a green coloured Werder cap and was given a Werder paper bag with booklets, phamplets on infos of matches *. After the purchase, enquired the salesperson (a lady) about the price tickets of the next coming 2 matches at the ticket counter within the Fan Shop itself; the Werder vs Borussia Monchengladbachand & Werder vs AC Mailand. *Local game Werder-Borussia M'gladbach: the cheapest standing-no-seats is 8 and 11Euros but at that moment only 11Euros left, while international games like Werder-AC Milan cheapest 33Euros*
