Zum Flohmarkt am Samstag 17 Januar 2009 (To the Flea Market on Saturday 17 January 09)

I was advised by PhD colleague Mahazrul not to bring so much clothings to Bremen, "you can buy them at the Flohmarkt (fleamarket)". I gave a thought. (Mahazrul, I will be flying in to Bremen on Montag (Monday) and the Flohmarkt is on Samstag(Saturday), do you want me to be 'unclothed' for 5 days?Just joking!:-)

Both me and colleague Mdm.Wan F were told that the Flohmarkt is ONLY on Samstag not Sonntag/ Sunday, unlike any other places they have it on Sundays and if the weather is bad there will be no Flohmarkt. The location is by the Weser/River.
So we took tram no.1 at the (where else, the Hauptbahnhof) drop at Am Wall (again following nice friends' advice) and walked towards the Weser/river.

We asked a lady about the location because we were already by the river and there was no sign of any kind of fleamarket. She said kindly "oh,it's somewhere here but if weather ist not good, there's no Flohmarkt". Anyway we walked along the water front and there unter der brucke / under the bridge ist die Flohmarkt.

It was very chilly indeed to even walk along the promenade. Under the bridge, though it was like almost every sellers wish to set up their table under the bridge, from the chilly wind.

Like any other Flohmarkt there are lots of (of course) useable second hands items like what Mahazrul had mentioned jackets, pullovers at 1 Euro, mugs, electrical goods, etcetra etcetra. However new goods were also sold. I like to buy mugs, souvenirs & books. However most of these books are in Deutsch! Ich lese Deutsch nich/I don't read German :-)

At the Hauptbahnhof

waiting for tram no.1 Am Weserpromenade / At the Weserpromenade Unter der Brucke/ under the bridge That black snow cap is Eine Euro (1 Euro).
*As usual I don't look cool in a snow cap, anyone wants it? :-)

The Flohmarkt ends at noon.On the way back to the Domsheide I passed by an interesting looking building, with mostly glass facade, probably a food outlet. Near the Domsheide.
Sort of like our Malaysian Pasar Tani , 'stalls on wheels' sells agriculture produce. (Macam Pasar Tani kita jugak bukan nya murah pun yang dijual kat sini :-) )

Zurück zuhause / Back at home.
Lunch.
Yes, I haven't taken lunch yet. There's the 1 Euro mug I bought from an elderly man at the Flohmarkt.
(Abang samak dulu Dek, ingat abang terus guna ke? :-) )
Auf Wiedersehen
(Jangan marah mafla Bremen abang.)
