Sabtu 11 April 2009. Nak makan apa balik Malaysia nanti?

Soalan "Nak makan apa balik Malaysia nanti?" sebenarnya dah berlegar2 dlm fikiran AbgLans even masa AbgLans di Jerman lagi. (Jgn cakap Abg ajer yg asyik2 pikir pasal makan, kalau uol ditempat AbgLans uols pun sama jugak :-P )

AbgLans tunggu KakAz tanya ajer & sehari-dua masa nak fly balik ke Malaysia (masing2 excited nak balik negara terchinta itu) KakAz tanya soalan keramat itu "You nak makan aper balik Malaysia nanti?"
AbgLans jawab "I nak makan fish & chips!"
"Ada pulak fish & chips" kata Kak Az.
"Ye-lah,nak makan nasi lemak, mee kari, laksa & cokodok semua Kak Wan (course-mate PhD yang sama2 ke Bremen Jerman) dah buat dah hari tu. Nak makan serunding you dah bawak, hehehehe.Nak makan fish & chips sini I tak confident, loyer tekak! iiiieee!" kata AbgLans.
Itu cerita sebulan lepas.
*Tapi balik ni tak der terus AbgLans carik fish&chips pun...:-)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Day52_Mittwoch/Wednesday4Marz09_To ITB & Buying Grilled Chicken.

Today it was just to ITB to do research by the internet and reading books given by our Advisors.

Later that evening as we (Wan F and I) alighten the Watjenstr tram station near Pennymarkt and Extra, both of us saw a bearded man manning the mobiled-chicken-kiosk, just next to Pennymarkt. We have seen the mobile kiosk several times but was uncertain of its 'halal' status so we never bothered to drop by to see...:-)

So, before entering Pennymarkt we drop by at the mobile kiosk to enquire a few things about the chicken where we met Brother M******, a PhD student from Egypt who later spoke on behalf of the chicken seller, a Lebanese who speaks Deutsch and no Englisch, about the 'halal' condition of everything sold on the mobile kiosk.
"Chicken is Halal, InsyaAllah". The Lebanese brother comes 3 times a week on Montag, Mittwoch & Samstag. At some other days the mobile kiosk will be manned by his brother. Adek dia rupa Mat Salleh tu yang ragu2 nak singgah puuun....

Each whole chicken costs 5.60Euro, half will be 2.80Euro.We bought 1/2 chicken each.It seemed too much,though...
It was delicious & you can either eat with bread & salad & whatever ala kebab or make nasi ayam/chicken rice but prepare the soup to compliment the chicken rice. Even 1/2 chicken was enough for 2 meals :-)
Abg bukan org Arab yg makan sekor ayam sorang!hahahaha!

The Lebanese Brother who sells grilled hahnchen/chicken.
Syeikh Lebanon yg jual ayam panggang.Malu nak bergambar. :-)
With Brother M******, who became the unofficial translator to the Lebanese brother who sells grilled chicken:-)
Bersama Sdr.M******, yg jadi translator kpd Syeikh tadi.
The chicken on the plate!
Enak dimakan begitu sajaaaa....
Bon Appetit!
Jemput Makan? :-)

Facilitator for PP/PPL Course at ILP Sandakan.26 Mar 2008. (Day 1 in Sandakan)

DAY 1.
Episode 1. From KUL to BKI. The arrival...

(KUL stands for Kuala Lumpur while BKI for Kota Kinabalu *grin* ).

Arrival at KKIA (Kota Kinabalu International Airport)

Straight from the Landscape MySkills competition site in UPM Serdang, I rushed to the ERL station to catch the train to KLIA to fly to Sandakan Sabah, to become the facilitator for the PP/PPL induction course at Institut Latihan Perindustrian (ILP) Sandakan. Organized by DSD's Sabah regional office, they needed someone from HQ to facilitate together with them (so since I had never been to Sandakan & there was no one available from HQ,so I volunteered) :-)
(Neighbour Napi sent me to the ERL station and it was 'on the dot' situation when I arrived at the station the train had already stopped to let the passengers alightened the train. Phew! If I had missed this 4.20 train, next will be at 4.50). For the PP/PPL induction course, I decided to facilitate the first day while DSD's Sabah director takes the second day.

On the sky bridge to board the plane to Sandakan with DSD Sabah Director Mr.Syah***

We met at Kota Kinabalu International Airport to board the same plane to Sandakan. However Mr.Syah***'s colleagues such as Hj.B**, Sa** and driver Nu** had hit the road for 6 hours from KK to Sandakan in the office 4 wheel drive. That very first night in Sandakan the five of us went around Sandakan town looking for local food and did some brief sightseeing.

Arrival at Sandakan airport. Lots of Mat Sallehs around...
Are you calling the driver to fetch us?
Episode 2.
"Jalan-Jalan Carik Makan" or "Looking for Food" in Sandakan.
The Sabah office decided to 'play host' to 'this guest' (that's ME!) from Putrajaya. Since Sandakan is famous for its prawns and fish, 'the' host decided to look for sea food (or anything that comes from the sea for dinner when I answered "Sea food" not 'siput' (snails)" to their question "what do you want to eat for dinner Che Lan?"
Nu** the driver was quite familiar with the town & off we went to the night market area somewhere at the outskirts of Sandakan & looked for any 'edible sea creature' to eat. (Actually we ate stingray & the 'ikan jaket'.
I was busy taking pics, see my untouched rice :-)
Mr.Syah*** (in white shirt) probably was thinking "we must feed the guest from Putrajaya!"
Episode 3. Ronda-ronda pekan. ("Look-look and see-see" around town).
Taking pictures of KD Sri Sandakan armada.
The KD Sandakan naval base and dockyard are the must see spots in Sandakan. Sandakan town faces the South China Sea with some distant islands (Philiphine?) as the back scene.
Sandakan, a coastal town, offers scenic views of the South China Sea and producer of salted sea produce such as tiger prawns and salted fish. Throughout our stay in Sandakan, all 5 of us stayed at the ILP's institute guest house.
Thanks you DSD Sabah office and ILP Sandakan for the kind hospitality :-)

Sunday breakfast in Ipoh.30th.Dec'07

Breakfast.
My favourite Sunday breakfast place; 'Gerai Kotiow Sabar Menunggu' stall or Shukor's roti canai stall (on the right) at the Pasar Borong or 'Wholesale Wet Market' in Menglembu.

The mee kicap (Chinese styled noodles in soya sauce) with fish ball/cake soup at this Gerai Kotiow. The stall is tended by the Ho family. Mr.Ho is a Muslim convert while wife Kak Juariah is a Malay. Their sons like Affendi and his brother helps them to run the business by taking orders, making drinks & prepare the noodles. Mum & dad usually do the cooking & frying * that's what I used to see :-) *

* Hey, I don't get anything like free meals or what for this 'advertisement' :-P *

Kawan dari Negeri Dibawah Bayu datang.Sabtu 22 Nov'07

Kemudian kami buat assumption lagi, mungkin yg kat MFI...sampai situ rupa2nya tempat tu training institute lain, guard tu cakap Esset belakang stesen komuter UKM sana.

Aduuuh, time tu dah nak dekat 11 mlm, tapi takpe sebab Aja*** cakap dia nak jumpa bapak mertua dia dulu. Nak ke Esset memang kena masuk jalan belakang stesen komuter UKM yang sunyi, pokok2 besar kiri kanan jalan & cahaya lampu jalan suram2 gitu, naik jambatan flyover, drive sampai hujung, pintu masuk sebelah GMI yang sedang dlm pembinaan...:-) Kalau jalan kaki ni dari UKM komuter tu jauhnya mau jugalah 15-20 minit, kalau malam jalan tu sunyi & lengang, silap2 boleh kena pau pasal sunyi benar jalan tu,hehe...*Abg kau ni nak nasihat pada sape2 yg jalan kat sini, walau apa pun terjadi JANGAN PANDANG BELAKANG! hehe*

Aja*** bawa 2 org kawan, Br*** dari KK & Z** dari Peghelih. Aja*** ajak pergi makan char kuey tiow kat Shell. *Shell yg mana?Bangi ni byk Shell! Hehe,rupa2 Shell yg dekat Maybank & Ambank nun...ada Astro England main. Ok-gak char kuey tiow dia tetapi pasal 4 orang order benda yg sama jadi sikit-lah isi pinggan tu. Abg kau ni 'spons' (sponsor) sebab ala-ala jadi 'tuan rumah' :-)
Enjoy your stay in Semenanjong guys!

Seri Teja@ Presint 9 Putrajaya. Selasa 6 Nov'07

Food court di Presint 9 belakang 'maplei berkembar' dekat Perodua tu dah beroperasi. Nama food court nya sungguh, oh klasik, "Seri Teja" namanya diberi saudara saudari sekelian. Why "Seri Teja"? Only Perbadanan Putrajaya knows the answer.

Walau bagaimana pun, it's a challenge ( or threat?) to the existing neighbouring kedai mamaks!

Ada surau kecik yg kiblatnya tak selari dgn dinding, dibina disebelah kiri food court Seri Teja...mmmph,ngapa pulak semasa planning stage tak di'orientate' betul2? atau adakah surau ni 'after thought'? :-P

Abg He*** order nasi goreng udang sementara abang kau ni order kuay teow kungfu. Harga? standard food court Putrajaya tetapi bukan harga standard food court Alamanda atau dekat Souq bawah Masjid Putra nun...:-) It's a lot cheaper :-)

Jom jalan-jalan cari makan!
