MySkills 2008 Award Presentation Ceremony @ ADTEC Shah Alam. 15 Aug'2008

15 Aug 2008 at the ADTEC Shah Alam was the award presentation ceremony for the MySkills 2008 competition winners. (MySkills competition is the skills competition among vocational trainers in Malaysia organised by the Department of Skills Development). Among the 30 trades contested was welding, automotive, ICT web design, landscape gardening*,cooking, hairdressing etc..

The Honorable Prime Minister, the Minister and Deputy Minister for the Human Resources Ministry, MoHR Secretary General, DSD's and Manpower Dept.Director General were guests of honors.

In this year's competition the landscape finalists managed to secured the Gold and Silver medalist level.All the above mentioned guest of honors were on stage to award the winners.

*For the recent 2008 MySkills competition, I was the Landscape Gardening coordinator and it was held at UPM Serdang Selangor.

Thursday 8th.May 2008:the 3rd.and final day of the MySkills 2008 Landscape Gardening competition at Univ.Putra Malaysia green. All 5 teams managed to complete the task which was given since day 1 beginning 6th.May'08. Judging and measuring of landscape features by all 5 judges lead by Prof.Mohamad was done on Friday, the day after.Front row squatting are 10 finalists from 5 teams.In green t-shirts are UPM students who were assistants to the finalists plus that guy in black t.shirt. MySkills Landscape Gardening Pre-Qualification Competition @ UPM Serdang 26 Mar 08

I was appointed by the office (Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Human Resources) as the MySkills 2008 Landscape Gardening competition coordinator this year, which made me became the 'liaison officer' between the office and the personel from the Faculty of Design and Architecture of University Putra Malaysia Serdang (who were the venue coordinator, judges and assistants for this landscape competition). The 4 judges from the faculty were Prof.Dr.Mohammmad (Chief Judge), Mr.Nazri, Mdm.Shureen and Mr.Emran. Another judge Mr.Nizam is from DBKL.

March 26th.08 was the pre-qualification round and 8 teams (two in each team) were competing to qualify for the finals in May'08. It was held at the faculty ground.

The 8 competing teams were :-

IKBN Kuala Perlis (Djohan & Nordin wearing head gears in orange tee).

*All teams were provided with 2 assistants, who were UPM students.

Needless to say, if the World Skills competition is for students around the world, MySkills competition is for vocational trainers from all training institutions (public or private) to show their skills. Beside the 'Landscape Gardening', there are 24 other skils being competed elsewhere at other venues such as CIAST & ADTEC Shah Alam, IKBN Alor Gajah etc.
