Datuk Sharifah Aini Muzika Arabia Istana Budaya 18Aug2007

Arrival time at the Istana Budaya, Jalan Tun Razak KL: around 2050hrs.(Show started at 2030hrs).

Tickets price: RM239.50 Grand Circle 2nd.floor.

First time to Istana Budaya but easily to find way around * I'm a KLite,u know*

Habibah Yacob was singing 'Habibi' when we arrived at the Grand Circle entrance (we had to wait for the song to finish before we can be ushered to our seats).

Immediately after Habibah finished singing, Datuk Sharifah Aini took centrestage with an Arabic song originally sung by Fayruz. (Most of Datuk's Arabic songs in the first segment were Fayruz's). Datuk sang Ma'ool (Fadhl Shaker),Kalby Ekhtarak (Amr Diab) etc. *I was hoping for Nour El Ain or Tamally Maak. Nour El Ain,yes probably in the 1st. or 2nd.concert but Tamally was not in the list at all*

Yasin and Mastura sang some fast tempo Arabic songs.

One thing for sure I salute every singers ability to memorize those Arabic lyrics!

The second segment saw Datuk singing her memorable Malay hits such as 'Bunga Tanjung' and 'Teratai'. * 'Bunga Tanjung was a major hit sometime during my secondary school days circa 1976 and last night these 2 songs were superb performed with the 'elaboration' of strings and trumpets.*

'Inikah Balasannya' gave me goose bumps...because for the reasons I only knew...

'El Bent Chalabia' (the song that most of us would remember as 'the' maghrib or 'breaking fast' song) was also superbly sung by her.

The crowd was enthusiastic and a standing ovation was due for Datuk after the finale.

*Note:No calls, no reading text msgs, no cameras or phone cameras although at the Grand Circle there was 'no network coverage! During the finale when Datuk sang 'Irama Cinta Ku' only then cameras or phone cameras were given the 'leeway'!*

The autograph signing session by all performers was at the hall lobby. There was a long queue

* Oh, among the public figures I saw was Dato Fuad Hassan, Datin Paduka Sharifah Mazlina Syed Abdul Kadir (the first Asian woman who ski-sailed solo across the Antarctic and Arctic ), M.Daud Papita President, Jovian Mandagie and Salimah Mahmood.

5 stars.
