Day23_Tuesday 3 Feb 2009_To the Universitat's Bibliothek/Library.

I decided to visit the Universitat Bibliothek / library at the Universitat Zentral today (3rd.Feb 2009) to look for berufbildung book,journals etc., errr...English ones :-)

However, most references were in Duetsch :-) Lots of books I found related to my research were in...Deutsch. Miss I*** had given an advice (she gave her's after my bibliothek visit,though ) that to browse the Bibliothek website, locate & identify the books that we are interested in, write down the name, library code,number & location then go to the library , find it & borrow it. That advice came after I came back from the Bibliothek.

What I did was I had approached the person on duty, a lady, at the information counter, find me something to do with 'vocational'. Since she doesn't speak English and I don't speak Deutsch, I said "Berufbildung" instead of 'vocational'. She then typed on the computer "Berufbildung", I think, found the related books,wrote down the codes, showed where the racks are and off I do my search.

Mostly Deutsch :-)

At the bibliothek, personal belongings like jacket and bags have to kept at the cloakroom managed by 2 or 3 staff ,who will keep your things, gives you an identification tag for claim identification later. One can however bring in their belongings like laptops, writing books, drinking water even camera into the Bibliothek using plastic baskets provided at the cloakroom. Of course, there'll be a bibliothek staff at the entrance into the library hall to see what everyone's bringing.

Leave your jackets & bags at the cloakroom. Carry your items you wish to take into the Bibliothek in the blue plastic baskets provided.

Finding a vacant seat at the bibliothek was a task. Mostly occupied even during lunch hour. Most seats have their own plug points. However, the environment was so conducive for everyone to do reading or writing.

Borrowing busch/books can be done 'self service' at the machine where you put in your Bibliothek card into a slot, then you slide the book you wish to borrow on the counter surface to be scanned or go the counter

and a beautiful librarian like O* who will do it for you:-) You can borrow up to 20 books, as I was told by a student.

For today (3 Feb '09) I had borrowed 4 books :-) That the blue coloured plastic basket for you to bring in your laptops, writing pads, bottle drink etc.
