Memory Lane@Ipoh.Sunday 23rd.Sept'07

Another thing in my 'must do' lists whenever I'm back in Ipoh is the Sunday morning 'Memory Lane' visit. This Ipoh 'flea market' has everything for everyone' *hehe, so cliche* You can find antiques like old coins, old currencies, old books, vases, WW2 items being sold here (one antique seller I saw had a WW2 soldier's metal cap for sale). Second hand items are aplenty;even sports rim, fans, turntables, computers(!) can be found here! Bundle t-shirts, jeans, jackets and shirts are many. There's also this mid-aged Chinese man who sells fighting fish (& other lesser known fish species) in bottles. The cheapest fighting fishes used to be like RM2 (now, I dunno, I'll check it out next time I balik).

Business here starts as early as (maybe) after dawn and ends at noon. My favourite spots are the stalls selling old books and magazines. I would usually go for imported ones since they are scarce here. So far I have bought 2 dictionaries, one was Oxford's. Prices of 2nd.hand books are 1/2 or 1/4 priced but still negotiable, not like in Germany where price depends on thickness of books! :-)

There are also stalls selling drinks, mee soup etc in case one gets hungry.

There's one stall selling 'jam Tsunami' where the seller would immerse the watches in water to prove they (the watches) still can function after the immersion!

But this Jawi scribe from Kedah named A*** really caught my interest. One name writing in Jawi on this special printed paper costs RM4. Very creative way to make a business!

Besides the locals, tourist or foreign workers frequent this place. Macam muka bawah ni, entah2 pekerja asing Myanmar, hehe! Ok, jom jalan-jalan!
